The effect was used infrequently until Innistrad block when it saw a noticeable increase. Fish Five-0: Esper Control 2.The term "mill" originated with the card Millstone, which originally had the text " :Take the top two cards of target player's library and place them in target player's graveyard." As more cards were printed with the "put X cards from a player's library into their graveyard" effect, players began to call it "milling", and the term became accepted informally even by Wizards R&D.Fish Five-0: Mono Red Dragons (Standard),.Fish Five-0: Not Another Esper Control Deck!,.Fish Five-0: A Compleat Temur Midrange,.Fish Five-0: Grandpa Tribal (Standard),.Fish Five-0: The Most Charming Deck in Standard,.Fish Five-0: Feeling Really Blue (Standard),.

If you ever have a deck you want to be made into a video feel free to leave a like, comment, and subscribe to the MTGGoldfish Youtube Channel Thanks for watching and I'll see you at the next one! Either way, this is the list I'd like to try moving forward. If not Clear the Mind, then I would play a Jace, Wielder of Mysteries. I think moving forward I'll be playing a few Prison Realm in the main deck and out of fear of milling myself, I'm looking to add Clear the Mind as I want to shuffle all my counterspells back in. Towards the end, we got dunked on by a red deck and a Chandra tribal deck. The deck started off quite well and performed as we imagined it would. Not only do they have early aggression in their creatures but they threaten Chandra, Acolyte of Flame. A card that will oddly seem useless but also very relevant is Rule of Law as they can play almost all of their cards in one turn thus making it hard for us to win with Folio of Fancies. Our absolute worst matchup has to be Cavalcade of Calamity Red as this enchantment is a beating and a half. Awakened Inferno as we can't counter that so whatever you do, be prepared to either pick that off or establish a lock early and just mill the opponents out. We just need to be prepared for the eventual Agent of Treachery. I don't think any deck really has an auto win against Field of the Dead decks and this deck is no exception, but I do think the fact that we can control them long enough to where Folio of Fancies wins is likely. Narset, Parter of Veils is something we can easily play around and probably don't care too much about after a certain point. The only thing is to make sure to never let a Teferi, Time Raveler resolve as we actually don't have many ways to deal with it. This deck in it's current iteration is very good at playing against the midrange and whatever slow decks as we counter everything the opponent does. Helping our opponents draw a ton of cards isn't great but when combined with Rule of Law, they can only play one spell. Folio of Fancies will make it so both players have no maximum hand size which means we can load our opponent's hand up and then use the second ability to mill them for a ton. This is great, we've established control and made our opponents scream at their wall, what next? Well, here's how we plan on closing out the game.

Another fun thing about Rule of Law is that it forces Fires of Invention decks into finding a Teferi to bounce the Rule of Law or else they're locked into one spell a turn. Usually, this deck will pull very far ahead if allowed to untap with Teferi and Reclamation as from that point, we can Time Wipe or do whatever we want at instant speed. On top of that, we have Wilderness Reclamation as a way to make sure we never tap out. We can also buy back a ton of our counterspells with Tamiyo, Collector of Tales. This is the ideal spot to be in as we will counter every threat they play. Oops, I said spells but with rule of law, they will only get to play one spell and on their turn only.

With these two combined, your opponents will have to wait their turn to play their spells. Last standard we saw my Palcatraz build with Teferi, Time Raveler and Rule of Law. The game plan with this style of deck is to use all of our counterspells Absorb and Sinister Sabotage to keep our opponents off the board while also playing some of my favorites like Rule of Law to make it almost like a prison-style of deck.
